Each house is organized across three levels, with minimal interior walls to promote fluid movement between interior and exterior spaces. Terraces and rooftop areas, oriented toward the spectacular view of Cape Sounio, extend the functional living space of each 100 m² unit to nearly double its size, seamlessly integrating indoor and outdoor living. The house is arranged in two volumes set at different levels and embedded into the rocky landscape. Oriented toward the East, both volumes face striking rock formations across the gorge, giving the site a distinctly rugged character. Our aim was to embrace this atmosphere by creating an experience reminiscent of a monastery—entering a discreet, sheltered world while remaining immersed in the surrounding wilderness. The two linear volumes are positioned to form an internal garden between them, which serves as the main communal circulation space connecting all areas of the house. Designed for two families, the project features a shared living area and multiple bedrooms distributed across various levels, each integrated into the existing topography. A hidden water element near the main entrance introduces a sense of calm and surprise, contrasting beautifully with the dramatic mountain views. Total covered area: approximately 260 m². These two man-made elements have two distinct differences : A difference of physical scale and of time scale. The conveyor line stopped its industrial function in 2008 where as the open-cast mine will cease to work in 2045.
